When it comes to priorities, your memories of this day are number one! Most brides won't remember how the chicken tasted, or whether the cake was dry. It is difficult to recall music choices, first dances, and even the guests. Everything we stress over during the six to twelve month planning happens in the blink of an eye, then it's over and you begin your journey into wedded bliss with new challenges. The seating arrangement you spent hours planning, doesn't even make your radar once the reception begins. The hundred people who congratulate you are a blur of smiling faces and colors.
How do we hold on to these precious memories that disappear so quickly? Pictures.
When it comes to preserving these memories, choosing a photographer you trust is everything. This does not mean the most expensive one. This could be a family friend or a professional. Either way, take control over planning your memories. Spend time with your photographer so they know what you expect. Communication is key. Make a list of shots you want to be included. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Each photographer has a process that should be respected, but most will work with you.
They will almost always get your wedding party pics, your cake, your first dance. If you want pre-ceremony pics, let them know. If there are some great shots you have seen of others, show them so they know what you are expecting.
Tip of the day: Ask your photographer to walk with you and your spouse to visit each table while your guests are still eating or once the cake is cut. You can get great pics of you with your guests, creating a photo diary of who attended your big day. Not only are these wonderful memories for you and your spouse, but your guests feel important and included in your day.
